Who we are
At Cambridge CAB we have a mixture of paid and voluntary staff, with a ratio of around 1:6.
We run drop-in sessions every weekday morning and offer telephone advice in the afternoons. Advice can also be accessed online or via e-mail.
Our Staff

The Chief Executive, Rachel Talbot, heads a team of 23 full-time and five part-time staff, including specialist money and mental health advisers, administrative staff, researchers and a small marketing/PR team. Our advisers, whether paid or voluntary, all undergo the rigorous national Citizens Advice training programme.
Our Volunteers
Without our trained volunteer advisers we could not continue to meet the demands for advice. We have over 150 volunteers who undertake various roles from administration to advising. The value of our volunteers during 2009/2010 is estimated to be in excess of £500,000.
Our volunteer advisers:
- Interview clients using the newly introduced ‘gateway’ assessment method
- Arrange for clients to seek advice from specialist agencies if appropriate
- Help them negotiate with people such as creditors or service providers
- Draft letters/make telephone calls
- Represent them in Court and at tribunals
People from all walks of life and across all ages volunteer at
Cambridge CAB. Law students who train as CAB advisers can get up
to six months off their solicitor training contracts.
