Trustee Board members at the Advice Hub launchCambridge CAB launched the concept of an 'Advice Hub'  in September 2004.  It is an ambitious project, born out of the need for new premises from which to provide an even better service to clients.

It involves working with other agencies, which would be housed in one building, in order to provide, as far as possible, a 'one-stop-shop' for advice in the Cambridge area.

You will either need to have 'PowerPoint' installed on your computer or you can use the PowerPoint Viewer, which is obtainable free from Microsoft. Get PowerPoint Viewer 2007

Be prepared for a bit of a wait to download the presentation, especially if you are on a dial-up connection.  The file size is 3mb.

You can, if you prefer, download the presentation as a much smaller Indicates a pdf document - opens in new window document.

Income Maximisation Project

The Income Maximisation Project was started in February 2005, following a successful bid to Cambridgeshire County Council.

Income Maximisation Project logo, with link to siteThe Council were tendering for advice agencies to undertake a benefits take-up campaign across Cambridgeshire.  The various CABs around the county have a close working relationship and they put in a joint bid.  As a consortium, they won the contract because they were deemed to be in the best position to provide what Cambs County Council was looking for.

Although the project staff work in different areas of the county, the base for the project is in Cambridge, with Cambridge CAB being the official 'employers'.

Funding was initially for one year but has continued because the campaign has been very successful.  Just over £2m of new benefit claims were met in the first ten months and the project has gone from strength to strength ever since.

If you are interested in the figures, take a look at the reports - First period and next nine months.

Update:

Unfortunately funding for the project has not been renewed and it closed at the end of September 2007.
