Library Learning Centres Expand Range of Courses
County Council Learning Centres in all Cambridgeshire Libraries
have expanded the range of maths and English qualifications they
are able to offer to the public.
Library Learning Centres can now offer Entry Level 3
Qualifications in the two subjects, enabling learners to
demonstrate their knowledge and ability to apply learning to
everyday situations. Previously, while the Learning Centres
could offer basic level courses, qualifications were only
available at the higher levels.
The new qualifications give people the chance to demonstrate
speaking, listening, reading, writing and number skills and
ensure that their efforts are recognised as soon a possible
through the achievement of a qualification.
Library Learning Centres offer the full range of courses from
Learndirect, including a wide range of IT courses for complete
beginners upwards. The learning is conducted via a computer and
learners can study at their own pace at a time suitable for
them. They can also study at
home or work if they have Internet connected computers.
Centres can be found at Libraries in Cambridge, Ely, Huntingdon,
Littleport, March, St Ives and Whittlesey, with outreach
services in Ramsey, Oxmoor (Huntingdon) and High barns (Ely).
