Delay announced for Maternity/Paternity pay increases
HMRC has announced that the extension of Statutory Maternity
Pay, Maternity Allowance and Statutory Adoption Pay to 52 weeks,
and the introduction of Additional Paternity Leave and Pay, has
been delayed. It had been planning on the basis of
implementation for babies due on or after April 2009 but it is
now planning implementation for babies due on or after April
2010.
These changes have been made to give the Government further time
to make their preparations and to give employers some clarity.
