Health Secretary, Andrew Lansley visits Cambridge CAB and Advicehub
Staff and volunteers at Cambridge Citizens Advice Bureau were
delighted to welcome Andrew Lansley, MP for South Cambridgeshire
and Secretary of State for Health, to the Advicehub Cambridge
building today.
Cambridge CAB has a long history of providing legal advice services to people suffering from ill health via their Outreach service at Addenbrooke's Hospital and the specialist mental health service at Fulbourn. Last month an Advicehub self-help touchscreen kiosk was launched in the Outpatients Reception at Addenbrooke's, giving patients and visitors an easy way to find answers to common problems.
Mr Lansley said,
"CABs have been at
the forefront of advice
services in this country for over 70 years. Through their
network
of dedicated paid advisers and trained volunteers, they
continue to provide an invaluable service to the community. This
building is a good example of how an organisation in the
voluntary sector is embarking on social enterprise activities as
a way of sustaining its future success."
