Press release - Cambridge CAB
21 July 2009
New Debt Clinic
The Cambridge Citizens Advice Bureau has responded to the sharp
increase in demand for debt advice by opening a new evening
clinic.
The Debt Clinic will be open from 5.30pm to 7.30pm every
other Tuesday*, commencing next Tuesday (28th July). The
service will operate initially on a drop-in basis, with the
opportunity to book follow-up appointments.
Andy King, specialist money advisor said: “We want to do all we
can to help as many people access our service as possible. This
service will particularly help people who are in work or unable
to attend in the morning to access the advice they need”.
Mr King added, “We aim to provide the advice people need for the
problems they are facing, and with unemployment rising we are
continuing to see the knock-on effect in people’s lives.”
Clients will still be able to obtain advice via morning drop-in
sessions, telephone and internet-based enquiries.
Notes for editors:
In April 2009 Cambridge CAB dealt with 1300 enquiries, of which
400 were debt enquiries. This represents an 8% increase overall
and a 33% increase in debt enquiries.
