Cambridge CAB, 14 July 2006 Managing Change Cambridge CAB will be presenting the results of another busy year at their AGM at Emmanuel College on Monday 17th July 2006. “It always amazes me how many questions we answer each year,” states Rachel Talbot, Chief Executive. “approximately 45,000 in 2005 and the demand is growing”. “We will be presenting some key information about the work we carried out last year at our AGM including the fact that we helped over 22,000 clients of which over 10,000 were new to our service. This represents 5% of the adult population of the City and South Cambridgeshire.” she stated. A key message that Cambridge CAB is keen to get across is that their service is not just for the poor and vulnerable, it is here for everyone and it is highly likely that most of us will experience small or large change in our lives at some time that we need help with – which is why the CAB service is so important to all of us. Last year Cambridge CAB generated over £2 million of new benefit claims and handled over £2.5 million of debts. It was one of only 4 organisations in the County to win funding from the Legal Services Commission Financial Inclusion Fund to pay for extra debt workers and is also part of a group of Cambridgeshire bureaux that were chosen to be one of only 3 national demonstration Access Projects. |
