£500K - Help through Crisis Lottery Funding for Cambridge City

Cambridge CAB has been successful in winning funding of nearly £500,000 from the lottery to help individuals in crisis. “The competition was pretty steep” said Rachel Talbot CEO, “we understand that in the first round there were 670 bids which were honed down to 80 for round two”.

“Most importantly it has been recognised that although Cambridge is a wonderful place to be if you can afford it, that is not the case for all. Everyone falls on hard times, often because of nothing of their own making. This fund will help people to not only cope with the immediate problems that face them but also help them to move beyond that in further months of 1-2-1 support. The support of the City Council has been fundamental in making this successful bid possible”

The project will fund a full time Crisis Caseworker and full time Advocacy Worker who will not only work with individuals but also work with key support organisations and networks that help people to develop their lives so that we can pull together all the services and support that can help a person away from crisis on hopefully a more long term basis.
