Cambridge Water worked in partnership with Cambridge & District Citizens Advice to bring the talented violinist Jennifer Pike to Cambridge. The event was attended by 169 people and we raised around £8,600.

Jennifer Pike is renowned as a violinist with “dazzling interpretative flair and exemplary technique” (Classic FM). Her prodigious talent first gained international attention in 2002, when, aged 12, she became the youngest-ever winner of the BBC Young Musician of the Year and the youngest major prize winner in the Menuhin International Violin Competition.

The concert, which is sponsored by Cambridge Water, took place on Wednesday 6 April 2016 at the Emmanuel United Reformed Church. Jennifer was accompanied on the piano by Peter Limonov and the repertoire will include Elgar’s Violin Sonata and Sospiri, and Vaughan Williams’ Lark Ascending.

Cambridge Water works closely with Cambridge CAB as part of its commitment to keep bills affordable and provide extra care services for customers. It is delighted to be able to support the CAB with its fundraising concert which is being organised as part of the CAB’s 75 year anniversary celebrations.

Rachel Barber, customer service director for Cambridge Water, said: “Working with the CAB is all about trying to help members of our community who are most in need – and where possible put in place preventative measures to help customers before they start experiencing difficulties with managing their water account.

“At Cambridge Water we can assist customers with flexible payment arrangements, help with saving money on water bills, free water efficiency devices and registering for special assistance.

“By working in partnership with the CAB we help raise awareness of the services we can offer and they can help us understand which customers need help the most.”

Linda Holland, Trustee of Cambridge CAB said: “We are incredibly grateful to Cambridge Water for sponsoring this fundraising concert for us.  Without their support it would not have been possible to put this on and it promises to be a great evening, both in terms of the music, and raising funds and our profile for Cambridge CAB.”
