Royal British Legion comes to Cambridge Citizens Advice


Friday 3rd August saw the first drop-in session from the Royal British Legion, who will be holding a monthly drop-in here at Cambridge Citizens Advice Bureau. On the 1st Friday of every month between 1.30pm and 3.30pm, RBL will be providing information, advice, and guidance for serving members of the Armed Forces, veterans, and their families.

Dan, RBL’s Advice and Information Officer for Cambridgeshire and Norfolk, will be leading this unique project. There are other outreaches across Cambridgeshire, including St Ives, Soham, Ely, Sawston, Wisbech, and Peterborough.

Anyone who has received 7 days pay from any of the UK Armed Forces, both Regulars and Reservists, will be eligible, as well as their spouses & widow[ers], divorcees who have not remarried, and school-aged dependent children. The full list of eligibility criteria is here.

The drop-in at Cambridge CAB will be to provide advice and information in a central Cambridge location. The RBL can assist with finances, housing, independent living & home adaption and many more and signposts clients to suitable organisations where appropriate.

Anybody meeting the eligibility criteria can come to the drop-in, from younger service personnel struggling to adjust to civilian life to older veterans who are retired and looking to live independently. Support is available from the RBL and Dan encourages anybody meeting the eligibility criteria to come along for a chat.
