Supporting volunteers working at our local foodbanks

Many of our clients are highly dependent on the Foodbank. During the years we have developed a project with Cambridge City Foodbank to provide training and support to their volunteers to engage effectively with their clients. The aim of the project is to have a professionally trained volunteer at each of their 8 centres to provide information, signposting and advocacy to people who have not yet sought help with the problems that are causing the need for food parcels.

Richard, one of our specialist advisers, has been delivering training on key topics that would help Foodbank users. He also regularly attends the centres to support volunteers identify clients who need to be encouraged to seek help and show them where to get that help. During the project they will together create a resource pack.

The work is funded by the Aiden Trust and the Foodbank.
