Our Smart Money project assists the local community with money management skills. We give people the tools they need to avoid getting into a spiral of debt. Activities include groups and workshops on dealing with bills, keeping track of money, sensible banking and switching energy suppliers. We also give you the tools to identify and avoid scams. The project has a strong focus on helping vulnerable people, particularly those with mental health or disability issues.

We are working with a range of local groups that support vulnerable people. We deliver training to their workers which they can then share with clients. We also welcome referrals from workers who identify clients needing further support. The project has led to partnerships with Jimmy’s, Centre 33, Cambridge Women’s Resource Centre, social housing groups, children’s centres and community groups.

Smart Money is supported by the Big Lottery Fund and runs from February 2014 to January 2017. We operate in the Cambridge City and South Cambridgeshire District Council areas.
