Antoinette Jackson, newly elected Chair of Cambridge and District CAB, said “we are absolutely delighted to have been awarded the Eastern Region contract to lead on the delivery of advice to people thinking about signing up for Universal Credit. This is a benefit that is not always suitable for everyone so it is critical that everyone gets the right advice before signing up and this contract delivers just that”
CABs across the country have been delivering this service for over 2 years but during 2021 the DWP re-tendered the work resulting in only 90 of 300 CABs, being awarded contracts.
Antoinette said “we are extremely proud to be one of the very limited number of contract winners but that is testament to the quality of the work that our people deliver”
Rachel Talbot, CEO, explained “the tendering process was very rigorous and awards were based on a scoring system that required us to demonstrate a high level of quality of service and outcomes for clients as well as an ability to deliver a substantially larger contract than before.
We will be delivering this work across a wide area so a key component to success will be maintaining and enhancing partnership working”
